Climate: Cool-season crop. Ideal temperature: 15°C to 25°C.

Frost: Young plants tolerate light frost, but curds may get damaged.

Soil: Well-drained, fertile loamy soils rich in organic matter.

Land Preparation

Deep plowing followed by 2-3 harrowings.

Add well-decomposed FYM @ 20-25 tons/ha.

Form ridges and furrows for better drainage.

Early Varieties: 45 x 45 cm

Mid/Late Varieties: 60 x 60 cm
Irrigation

First irrigation after transplanting, then every 7–10 days.
