Pheromone Lure for Melon Fly

• A synthetic attractant used specifically for male Bactrocera cucurbitae.

• Attracts males from long distances, helping monitor and reduce populations.

🪤 Trap Types:

• Steiner traps or bucket traps are commonly used.

• Lures are often used in conjunction with insecticides (e.g., Malathion) for Male Annihilation Technique (MAT).

Lure Longevity:

• Usually remains effective in the field for 4–8 weeks.

• Replace lures periodically for continuous effectiveness.

⚠️ Management Tips:

1. Trap Placement: Hang 1.5 to 2 meters above ground, within crop canopy.

2. MAT: Deploy high-density cue-lure traps with insecticide to reduce male population.

3. Sanitation: Remove infested or fallen fruits regularly to break the life cycle.

4. IPM Integration: Combine with netting, bagging fruits, and biological control (e.g., parasitoid wasps).
